Every one “knows” that a high fat diet negatively effects our blood lipid profile. So should Dr Roger Blumenthal (Johns Hopkins Ciccarone Center for the Prevention of Heart Disease, Baltimore, MD) be sacked for this misleading statement?
‘The “low-fat-diet message” has also become ingrained in recent decades, and this may have led to greater consumption of sweets and carbohydrates, which would also tend to drive up triglyceride levels and decrease HDL’
Carbohydrates causing high triglycerides and low HDL. Surely not?
Also, if you know any sources in terms of Public Health Theory or philosophy of Public Health, I’d really appreciate a recommendation.
Did Foucault write about public health?
In Australian immigration policy a distinction is regularly made between women and children (often treated erroneously as equivalent to “family groups”) and single men. The details are subject to current debate and recently failed legislation (August 2006) in the Australian Parliament. But for example in one recent case, the Minister for Immigration, Senator Amanda Vanstone, determined as follows concerning Papuan asylum seekers: “The single men on the boat would be sent to an immigration detention centre, but families would not be split up and would be housed in facilities in the community”.[12] The discriminatory treatment of single women (routinely assumed to be members of some family) and single men evident in such a practice is rarely examined in the Australian media

Is There A Health Insurance Company Out There That Will Not Cover Any Doctor Visits Or Prescriptions?
I feel it is my own responsibility to pay to see a doctor and cover my monthly prescription. I just need a health insurance company that will pay my medical bills if I need an operation or I have some horrible disease that causes me to be in the hospital often. Is there a program out there like this.
My uncle just spent three months in a rehab. He lost his leg and nearly died. He has diabetes and heart disease. The first thing he did when he got out of the hospital yesterday was get really intoxicated and start smoking.
Should I just forget he is my uncle and just say who cares that he will die because he doesn’t care about anyone elses feelings?
I am an American citizen, interested in visiting some areas in the United Arab Emirates (specifically, Dubai and Oman). I was wondering what experiences people have had visiting these areas; are Americans welcomed, or frowned upon? Is it insulting to the cultures to wear typical American clothing, or is tourism such a big part of the economy that Americans are welcome? Is it safe to, say, ride around in a taxi alone (as an American male or female), being that I solely speak English? Thank you!
I work in a family practice (medical assistant) I am wonder how will universal health care affect family practice offices. We have a handfull of government (caloptima or medicade) patients. They are alot of work. There is a lot of paper work involved and a lot of unecessary time on the phone. It sounds to me like universal health care will make a lot more work for me.

Is There An Association Between The Consumption Of Animal Products And Diseases And Cancer?
In other words, can animal products like red meat, poultry, fish, eggs, cheese, or milk cause (or negatively effect the risk thereof) heart disease, stroke, cancers or osteoporosis, or even obesity?
Does anyone know where I can find some good information on this subject?
I live in southern California close to the border, in recent years the Mexican population has been growing in my city and is now 50% of the population.
Our local police were called by a wife to her home. She said her husband (a Mexican) was threatening her and her child with a knife. The man continued to threaten the cops and his family and they shot him 4 times. The man died and now his family is saying he was a “nice guy” and the cops were racists. He was recently released from jail, was drunk at the time and had prior assault/domestic abuse convictions.
The Mexican community is backing the family too. They always say its racist when a Mexican suspect is shot. But, in my area they ARE the ones committing majority of the crimes, threatening and attacking the cops. Hence they are shot more.
What is going on in our communities? Why are we saying cops are racists when they are trying to protect a mother and child? They are doing their job!
What do you think?
